On this page we are going to configure the structure (hierarchy) of the three reports: the Profit & Loss statement, Balance sheet and Cash flow statement. This is usually the first step in setting up Finstack, right after you have connected your accounting software. We will provide a standard structure for these reports. You are free to establish a structure that fits your business best. Use the blue arrow on the left to either collapse or unfold nested classes.

<aside> 🚨 Be aware that if you adjust your Structure later on, this can affect your Mapping! Especially deleting classes will result in the need to remap accounts that were earlier assigned.

<aside> 🚨 Be aware that the classes “Result” (P&L), “Retained earnings” and “Current year earnings” (Balance) are reserved by the system. It is not advised to change them.

Adding a main class or formula

Use the “Add” button top right to create a new class. In the next screen select whether you want to add a class or formula top left. Go back using the “Back” button top right.

New class

Populate the Title and select either Debit or Credit. Confirm by pressing “Add”.

New formula

Start building the formula in the top field, by using classes (from either Structure or KPIs) on your right hand side and operators displayed above. Populate the Title, select either Currency or Percentage and select either Debit or Credit. Confirm by pressing “Add”.

Use the option to “format as KPI”, when you want the formula to look distinctively in Reporting. Do this only when you want to intertwine KPIs in your financial statements. Mind that in Setup > KPIs formulas can also be created.

Adding a sub class

On a main class or subclass, hover and press the “+” sign to add a sub class. Enter the name of the sub class to be created in the pop-up window. You can not add sub classes to formulas.

Updating a class or formula

On a main class or subclass, hover and press the gear icon. This will lead you back to the page where you created the class or formula and you can adjust the details. Do not forget to press the “Save” button to effect changes.

Repositioning a class or subclass

On a main class or subclass, hover and press the position icon. Keep your mouse button pressed and drag-and-drop to the position you have in mind. Note that if you are a bit patient, the other classes either will switch place or make room for the new position of the class you have selected. Release the mouse button to confirm the new position of the class.

Deleting a class or subclass

On a main class or subclass, hover and press the garbage bin icon. Be aware that this can have effects to earlier configurations, such as in mapping!
